01 / Timing & visits
How many days in Shanghai, and how many appointments?
Shanghai stay: No universal number of days per stage has been verified. Ask the implant team for a written schedule including assessment, surgery, early review and restorative work.
Healing: Leeds' guidance describes a typical two-to-six-month integration period before implants are used. This is not the total duration of treatment or a rule for every implant method. Additional procedures can extend the pathway. Clinical application requires the treating dentist's assessment.
Appointments and trips: Multiple appointments do not automatically mean exactly two trips to China. Ask which stages need attendance in Shanghai, whether care can be shared elsewhere, and who takes responsibility for each review. No such arrangement exists through this project.
02 / Preparation
What should I prepare?
Ask the implant dentist what existing records are useful and how they should be shared securely. Discuss the complete proposed sequence, alternatives, any preparatory care and the plan for temporary teeth if relevant. Obtain written aftercare instructions and contact arrangements before making decisions about travel between stages.
03 / Costs
What does the Shanghai price reference mean?
A Shanghai Healthcare Security Administration notice issued in 2023 specified that the medical-service component of a standard single-tooth implant at public medical institutions must not exceed CNY 5,130 per tooth. The notice excludes separately billable materials and procedures including extraction, periodontal cleaning, root canal treatment, bone grafting and soft-tissue grafting. Official Shanghai notice.
This is a scoped public-policy reference, not an all-inclusive implant price, a current provider quote or a price available from this project. The notice allows policy adjustments; ask the hospital to confirm the current applicable tariff and all exclusions for your case. Do not apply this figure to private clinics or complex cases without checking.
Ask for separate lines for the implant, other materials, restorative components, preparatory procedures and follow-up. No overseas price comparison or saving has been established here.
04 / Beyond the appointment
Could I explore Shanghai between stages?
A future visit could include independent time around the Bund or a museum, if the treating team agrees it fits the plan. A healing interval does not establish that you can fly, leave Shanghai or follow an active itinerary. Travel, accommodation and additional return visits belong in the overall budget. 05 / Risks & onward travel
Risks, travel and points to clarify
The NHS hospital information discusses surgical discomfort, swelling, infection and implant failure, as well as ongoing maintenance. Ask the treating dentist to explain the risks relevant to your plan and how problems would be managed after departure. Do not use a generic waiting period from an unrelated procedure as flight clearance. NHS implant risks and stages.
06 / Questions
Frequently asked questions
Can a complete implant be promised during a short holiday?
No. Published clinical information describes stages and healing over months. Only the treating dentist can assess whether any accelerated approach is appropriate; none is offered here.
Do I need exactly two trips?
That is unconfirmed. The number of trips depends on the confirmed stages, reviews and any shared-care arrangement, not a generic website label.
Is CNY 5,130 the complete implant price?
No. It is the medical-service reference in the 2023 public-institution notice, with materials and specified preparatory procedures excluded. Current application and the complete estimate need provider confirmation.
What if I need bone grafting?
Ask the implant team how it changes the risks, sequence, total time and cost. The NHS hospital guidance explains that grafting can add complexity and time; this page cannot determine whether you need it.
When can I fly after implant surgery?
No universal interval is established here. Ask the surgeon about your specific procedure, healing review and route, and check the carrier's requirements before booking a flight.
