01 / Overview
What does a check-up involve?
The scope depends on the provider and the clinician's assessment. Ask for a written list of the proposed consultation, examinations and tests, together with the reason for each item. A check-up for someone without symptoms and an investigation of a new health problem are different conversations.
The UK National Screening Committee explains that screening can produce false alarms, false reassurance and overdiagnosis. It also stresses the importance of appropriate advice and follow-up. Those principles help frame questions; they do not establish a Shanghai package or recommend particular tests. UK NSC guidance on screening.
02 / Timing & visits
How many days in Shanghai, and how many appointments?
Shanghai stay: There is no verified standard number of days for the check-up described here. No local provider has confirmed a programme for this project.
Appointments: Ask the provider to distinguish the assessment and tests from the appointment at which a clinician explains the results. Confirm whether that review is in person and whether additional assessment could be required. Do not assume every step is included in one attendance.
Reports: Confirm the delivery date, language and secure collection route for each result. This project cannot promise same-day results or an English summary.
03 / Preparation
What should I prepare?
Ask the provider which existing results and medicine list the clinician wants, using the provider's designated channel. Obtain specific instructions about eating, drinking and medicines before the visit. Do not start a general fasting routine or stop prescribed medicine on the basis of this page.
Ask how a clinically important finding will be communicated and who will explain the next step if you have already returned home.
04 / Costs
How should I understand the cost?
Request a written list of included tests, the clinician's review, report language and any separate interpretation or translation charges. Ask how additional tests would be discussed before you agree to them. There is no verified check-up price for this project, so no price or savings estimate is shown.
05 / Beyond the appointment
Could I explore Shanghai as well?
Keep sightseeing separate from the appointment and results-review arrangements. Yu Garden or the Shanghai History Museum could be ideas for a free day if appropriate for your circumstances. They appear in the city's cultural heritage routes; they are not part of a medical package. Shanghai cultural heritage ideas.
06 / Risks & onward travel
Risks, travel and points to clarify
Discuss the benefits and limitations of the proposed tests with the clinician. Do not use a reassuring check-up result as a promise that every condition has been excluded. If a procedure, sedation or an important finding changes the plan, ask the treating team about travel before arranging onward activities. No general post-check-up flying interval is established here.
07 / Questions
Frequently asked questions
Can I finish a check-up in one day?
No provider-specific schedule has been verified for this project. Ask separately about the test appointment, completed results and clinician review; a short appointment does not establish the total stay.
Should I choose the largest package?
Ask a clinician which assessments are appropriate and why. Screening has limitations and possible harms; more tests are not presented here as automatically better. See the UK NSC guidance linked above.
Do I need to fast?
Follow the provider's instructions for the actual tests. This page does not prescribe fasting or changes to medicines.
Will I receive an English report?
That is unconfirmed. Ask about the report language, interpretation of findings, delivery date and any separate translation cost.
Can I fly out as soon as the appointment ends?
This page cannot establish fitness to fly. Ask the treating professional whether the assessments, findings or any procedure affect travel, and check the airline if medical clearance is needed.
